HOUZ Depot’s 4th Bubur Lambuk Giveaway was launched by Kuala Lumpur City Hall deputy director-general (Socio-economic development) Datuk Mohd Amin Nordin Abdul Aziz recently to mark the start of the fasting month.
The event was also attended by Islamic Welfare and Sermon Organisation of Malaysia (Pekida) president (Federal Territory) Datuk Paduka Roslan Dahaman, Inspector Ahmad Azrin (representative from Dang Wangi Police Station) and Masjid Dang Wangi imam Mohd Fathil Abdullah.
The Bubur Lambuk Giveaway is organised by Houz Depot annually at its hyperstore in Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman as a way of giving back to the community, as well as sharing in the festivities to mark the month of Ramadan for Muslims.
“This year marks our fourth bubur lambuk giveaway. The company has chalked up a record of distributing some 500,000 containers of bubur lambuk over the past three years,” said Houz Depot director Mohd Kamil Othman.
“This year, we hope to give away 200,000 containers during Ramadan.”
Bubur Lambuk, which is widely enjoyed for the breaking of fast, will be given away for free every day, for 25 days at Houz Depot Hyperstores in Kuala Lumpur, specially to the public, orphanages and members of the police force.
This year, celebrity chef Yang Jamil, who undertook the task of preparing the delicious porridge, has added five types of sweet bubur kacang.
The annual Bubur Lambuk Giveaway is co-sponsored by Petronas, Fama and other corporations with Houz Depot Sdn Bhd.
