COMMUNITY sports school, WCT KIDSS, is giving schoolchildren – irrespective of race, gender, or social class — the opportunities to grow through team sports such as football and basketball, learning core values, developing athletic skills and being actively engaged.
As one of WCT’s primary corporate social responsibility initiatives, the prime objective of the KIDSS programmes is to provide children between the ages of nine and 15 years old with wholesome activities that emphasise good sportsmanship, teamwork, fair play, respect and fellowship with others while engaging the local community.
The WCT KIDSS programmes are held at various venues within Klang Valley.
“We view this launch as our way of giving back to the communities that have supported us. These are the reasons why we had specifically selected to conduct WCT KIDSS in Bandar Bukit Tinggi Klang, Kelana Jaya, Shah Alam and Overseas Union Garden (OUG).
“As we establish and grow our presence in these areas, we bring with us our dedication to philanthropy and our commitment to supporting the local communities,” said WCT managing director Taing Kim Hwa.
In the free weekly WCT KIDSS programme, participants will have the opportunity to learn basic football and basketball skills in a safe and healthy environment from professional and qualified coaches, consisting of ex-national players and some hailing from renowned sports institutions like The Goal Academy.
WCT also works together with at least one underprivileged home in each area to allow children living there the opportunity to benefit from the WCT KIDSS programme as well.
Currently WCT KIDSS offers two programmes, WCT Basketball School 2013 and WCT Soccer School 2013, both of which are conducted only on weekends and are open to both boys and girls.
