KELANA Jaya MCA chairman Ong Chong Swen believes that education should go beyond books and that learning rules of conduct is equally important.

“A successful person should not only know how to work, but also how to behave,” she said in her speech at the Students Excellence Awards Presentation of SMK USJ8, Subang Jaya.

Ong said while obtaining good results was important, a student’s learning should go beyond the formal education system at school.

She added that students would achieve more with the support and participation of their parents.

As children spend more time at home than in school, parents play an important role in serving as good role models for their children.

“Children of today are leaders of tomorrow,’’ she added.

Ong also commended parents who took the time to attend the event, as she said their caring presence will boost their children’s confidence.

Ong was accompanied by Kelana Jaya Wanita MCA vice-chairman Lim Lean Huwa and Kelana Jaya division committee member Simon Chan.
