‘One person, one vote’ not for Sarawak just yet, says Masing


THE “one person, one vote” principle cannot be fully realised in Sarawak if the huge disparities in terms of development and accessibility between the rural and urban areas are not resolved, said Land and Development Minister Tan Sri Dr James Masing.

“Until and unless we have equal accessibility, rural weightage and greater empowerment to rural elected representatives must be given top priority in this country when delineation of constituencies is carried out,” he said, reacting to calls for the delineation of more seats to prevent gerrymandering.
