Orang asli villager Datang anak Bagan’s fingers were light and nimble as she quickly wove the daun bertam into a cross hatch pattern within minutes.

“The woven daun bertam sheets can be used either for the roof, wall or floor mat. It would require 4,000 to 5,000 sets of woven sheets to make the roof of a single house, with each set comprising two sheets,” she said, adding that they could last for two years.
