ALOFT Kuala Lumpur Sentral is the choice venue for this year’s returning Stylo fashion week.
While the hotel has yet to be opened, its owner, Lai Voon Hon is already excited about the upcoming prospect of hosting the event.
“The Mercedes-Benz Stylo Fashion Grand Prix 2013 fits in perfectly with the envisioned attitude and character of the hotel. Aloft is cool and trendy — something that I see to be in sync with the fashion week itself,” said Lai.
According to him, the hotel boasts of modern design elements that many others lack.
One example is the use of horsehair and mohair in some of its upholstery.
There is also a sculptural wall feature in the lobby that integrates weavings of organic materials.
Paolo Campillo, the hotel’s general manager, agreed: “Just like in fashion, the hotel is meant to be forward-thinking. Design-wise, we use fabrics and materials that are more experimental.”
Campillo added that they were open to Stylo using the hotel as a canvas for the event.
He explained: “Most hoteliers will probably tell you about the things you can’t do. Don’t touch our lobby for instance. Or you can only use the space within our ballrooms. We are not like that.”
Lai said they were looking forward to guests from the Stylo event mingling with those of the hotel.
“It is like opening my house to you. Aloft is hoping to have one big party all of next week when Stylo is here.”
While past Stylo events have kept their actual locations a mystery, Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral has been named the official venue and hotel this year.
The hotel will be having its grand opening during the Stylo Fashion Week as well. It has been revealed that Aloft’s launch has been pushed a week early to accommodate the event dates.
“On the night of March 21, we are having a launch party for Aloft. The next morning, the hotel will be opening its doors to paying guests,” said Campillo.
