KUCHING: The Sarawak Oil Palm Plantation Owners Association (Soppoa) has lashed out at the industry’s critics, particularly non-governmental organisations, that accuse it of being destructive and environmentally-unfriendly.
“This is the most ‘governed’ industry in Malaysia as currently there are 25 laws/regulations for companies to adhere to when planting oil palm in Sarawak,” said Soppoa first vice-chairman Paul Wong in a statement issued by association manager Melvin Goh.
