Penang island records 289,000 tonnes of solid waste dumped in 2012


FOOD wastes made up about 45% of the 288,377 tonnes of solid waste collected on Penang island last year, said Penang Municipal Council (MPPP) president Datuk Patahiyah Ismail.

She said other wastes included paper, glass and electronics items, which could be recycled.
