March 8 for pre-inquest hearing into lockup death

GEORGE TOWN: A magistrate’s court here has fixed March 8 for the mention of preliminary issues before an inquest for Cheah Chin Lee, who died under police custody, can begin.

Counsel M. Visvanathan, who appeared on behalf of Cheah’s family, had filed an application to obtain a copy of all-related documents including post-mortem and chemical reports as well as closed-circuit television camera (CCTV) footage of the lockup where Cheah was found dead.
