GE Lighting has partnered LBS Bina Group Bhd (LBS) to provide sustainable LED solutions to D’Island Residence, an island living, high-end development in Puchong.

With GE’s LED solutions, the estimated savings for D’Island Residence in terms of energy usage and maintenance costs, will amount to US$181,692 (RM552,976) a year which translates to a payback period of approximately five years.

From an environmental perspective, the energy savings is equivalent to the elimination of approximately 229,971kg of carbon dioxide car emissions per year, or creating 25.4ha of new trees.

GE Lighting Malaysia country manager O Swee Aun said, “We are pleased to support LBS Bina Group’s first high-end development with our energy-saving LED solutions. Lighting plays a key role in creating an ideal atmosphere as well as a safe environment at night for the residents.”

“GE’s LED bulbs and signage systems are proven green solutions for high-quality illumination with lower energy usage and they are easy to maintain. Our solutions provide a more sustainable, long-term approach for our clients.”

LBS managing director Datuk Lim Hock San added, “D’Island Residence is a milestone project for our company and we place great importance on every detail to ensure that we offer the best living experience within a sustainable development.”

“Quality illumination that is energy-efficient is a key consideration. We are pleased to partner with GE Lighting for this project and we have full confidence that the solution specified will meet our expectation of exceptional lighting output and reduced energy usage and environmental impact.”

Developed by LBS, D’Island Residence is situated on an 70.82ha site and comprises 237 super-link houses, 298 semi-detached homes, 148 bungalows, 352 high-end condominium units and a commercial hub.

The development will also feature a clubhouse and environmentally-friendly components like energy-efficient street lights and a rainwater harvesting system.

Together with its local distributor Mid West Green for roadway lighting and LED signage solutions, GE Lighting has specified a solution comprising 140 units of R150 and 49 units of R250 for compound lighting within the development, as well as the Tetra miniMAX system to bring high level visibility to the entrance signage.

The two components, R150 and R250, are ideal for street and compound illumination as they direct the light to where it is needed while reducing the glare from the fitting to less than 5%.

There is no wasted upward light leakage. In addition, the white LED light makes for a more modern and vibrant atmosphere in the night space.

For the entrance signage, the Tetra miniMAX signage system provides miniature channel letter lighting for logo letters.

The solution is also ideal for cove lighting, accent or border lighting. The OptiLens maximises the area of light coverage to produce outstanding uniformity.

It also comes with easy mounting and an over-molded design which protects the components from moisture. Users have a choice of a full range of colors including white, warm white, red, blue and green.
