MORE than 3,000 folk thronged the Alor Setar Tower grounds in Jalan Istana Kuning in the Kedah capital for a countdown event to usher in the New Year.
The revellers were entertained to a wayang kulit show by the Seri Asun group, a motor show audio clip and a medley of songs by local singers prior to the countdown just before midnight.
