IT’S going to be a party with a difference when canine welfare project Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better (MDDB) throws its maiden Christmas bash tomorrow.
The party will be hosted by MDDB volunteers as well as the advocacy group’s disabled animals.
The party will begin at 8pm at Alt-Space, No 27-G, Block a J, Jaya One, Section 13, Petaling Jaya.
MDDB rescue coordinator Irene Low said the gathering is also a platform to highlight that dogs born disabled or became disabled due to serious injuries have the capability to function well.
“Usually the general consensus would be to euthanise puppies born deformed or dogs that sustain serious injuries in accidents or after being abused, but it does not have to be so,” said Low.
In addition to highlighting these dogs, MDDB has also come up with a calendar honouring their disabled dog and puppies.
“We would like to thank professional photographer Carolyn Chon and producer/director Ng Swee Ling who had taken the pictures and created this calendar for us,” said Low.
The calendars priced at RM20 each will be on sale at the Christmas party.
Low said some of the dogs featured in the calendar had been adopted and this was a great encouragement for MDDB.
“It’s a good experience to adopt a disabled animal as their sheer grit is something that is very inspiring,” said Low.
She said MDDB T-shirts would also be available at the party.
“Please come and join us for some good food, company and good music,” she added.
