Hotel and NGO tie up to make Christmas more special

CHRISTMAS comes extra special for Seri Pacific Hotel Kuala Lumpur this year as they celebrate the occasion with World Vision Malaysia (WVM).

According to hotel general manager Mohamad Halim Merican, decorating Christmas trees and carolling have been the hotel’s yearly tradition.

The occasion was made more meaningful with the partnership between the hotel and the Christian non-governmental organisation, whose main cause is to eradicate poverty and injustice with regards to children and the community.

During the celebration, World Vision ambassador and songbird Francissca Peter sang two numbers before proceeding to light up the Christmas tree at the lobby of the hotel.

Peter also placed her Christmas message on the tree to kick-start the event. The public can purchase cards and place their messages or wishes on the tree.

Proceeds from the card sale will be channelled to WVM, to help them carry out various projects.

“With the donations received, we want to give hope, joy, light and relief to children,” said World Vision Malaysia chief executive officer Liew Tong Ngan.

Liew added that he was grateful to be part of this warm gesture in lighting up the lives of children and those in need.

Besides Peter, a group of young performers from the Ukulele Sunshine Kids as well as the Arioso Sinfonia orchestra played their musical instruments flawlessly, accompanying the mother-and-daughter team of Maria Jasmine and Izabelle Halim, who belted out two songs.

The evening continued with Christmas songs sung by Edmond Prior as guests were treated to an array of finger food such as seafood canapes, mini burger, prawn avocado salsa and deep-fried mushrooms with cream cheese while mingling with one another.
