The Urbanscapes Festival 10th anniversary promises to be an event to remember.

Featured acts: The whopper of a two-day festival is finally upon us. Roll on the Urbanscapes Festival 10th anniversary bonanza. Urbanscapes is the first and only all-day ‘user-generated’ creative arts festival in the Klang Valley. As a mission statement, Urbanscapes aims to pull together communities and participants from the fields of music, the arts, design, film and other creative disciplines under a single banner to showcase the best of the local scene and beyond. The music spread is an awesome one with today’s line-up headlined by singer-songwriter Yuna. Other highlights on stage today include Tenderfist, Narmi, Love Me Butch, Narmi, Charlie Lim, Guba, Love/Comes, Enterprise, Darren Ashley, Salammusik, Pastel Lite, Dangerdisko and loads more.
Tomorrow’s line-up is toplined by Icelandic post-rock band Sigur Ros and also pop legend Sheila Majid, who drops by for a special appearance. The rest of the day’s stage activities will be filled up by The Trees and The Wild, Mini Compo, LapSap, OJ Law, Impatient Sisters, Twilight Actiongirl, Francis Wolf, Free Deserters, Muck, Sphere and more.
The organisers are also encouraging festival-goers to leave their cars at home. Limited parking spots. Featured acts: Definitely one of the biggest gigs to happen at Rumah Api with Australian punk and metal bands like Last Chaos and Nuclear Summer sharing the stage with Singaporean extreme noise acts like Aarallinen and Snaggletooth. Homegrown ear-bleeding favourites like Sarjan Hassan, Pusher, The Garrison, Kitsofrenia, Osmantikos and Crimescene complete the line-up. From hardcore punk, roots reggae and old school metal, this gig rounds up the finest from the fringe community. Jointly organised by Shock & Awe! Media Group and BangsarBoot/BottleBoyz, this gig also doubles up as the launch party for the bumper edition Shock & Awe! #5 fanzine, which comes with a 7” vinyl.

Featured act: Much talked about Singaporean soul man Charlie Lim is an ideal pick for this snazzy venue. Lim rolls out an extra date in KL after his Urbanscapes Festival appearance. As a backstory, Lim’s debut EP was released last year, cleanly capturing his knack for tasteful, soulful pop. With a daring intimacy, these songs give fans a glimpse of Lim’s artistic brooding. Featured acts: The Hidden Sessions Vol. 5 is all about newcomer act Vials. This five-piece Klang Valley-based outfit will embark on an ambitious two-night stand at The Actors Studio @ Lot 10. These boutique showcases will serve to introduce the group’s debut album. The band, with a penchant for atmospheric rock and electronic dabblings, will celebrate the arrival of Congratulations, Did It Hurt? with an acoustic set on Nov 30 while a full electric romp awaits fans on Dec 1. Support acts on Nov 30 include Halfway Kings and Like Silver. The Dec 1 date will unleash a dynamite line-up with Vials, Pitahati and Damn Dirty Apes. Featured acts: Guess who is celebrating his 60th anniversary? Well, it’s none other than the leading man of Brit heritage sportswear, Fred Perry. Time to roll out another Fred Perry Subculture Event! This time, the headlining act is electronic/indie label Kitsuné’s freshly signed indie rock band Citizens!
This London-based quintet’s debut album Here We Are, produced by Alex Kapranos, operates a hair’s breadth from Franz Ferdinand’s funkily acerbic style. Of course, you know the deal: it’s party time with this indie dance-centred act.
Homegrown support acts include Pastel Lite, Dizkopolis, Enterprise, Kyoto Protocol and Twilight Actiongirl. The premiere of The Don Letts Subculture Films will also take place at this party.
