A BABY girl was born on Deepavali day to a doctor couple at Pantai Hospital, Kuala Lumpur.
The first baby of the couple, Gan Sheau Sun was born to general surgeon Tong Sheau Wann, 34, and gastroenterologist Gan Ing Earn, 40, at 7.50am.
“I am very thankful and it is a blessing that she was born today,” said Tong, who added that the baby was originally due on Nov 15.
“I was also born here and the trust that I have for this hospital is the reason why I wanted to deliver my baby here,” she said.
PHKL presented a Buds hamper to the mother. Three more Deepavali babies were born at the hospital later in the day.
In Penang, it was a wonderful celebration of joy for Elizabeth Anthony Dass, who was blessed with a healthy baby boy born on Deepavali day too. The administrative director delivered her firstborn at Lam Wah Ee Hospital in Penang at 12.33pm on Nov 13. She never expected the baby to be born on the auspicious day.
The 36-year-old and her Nigerian husband Pastor Alex Ngumezi, also 36, decided to name the baby Light Alex.
“He (the baby) is the Light of Life, and we hope he will bring light to everything else in the world,” said the elated father at the hospital in Jalan Masjid Negeri, adding that baby Light weighed 2.88kg.
The overjoyed family hopes the baby will bring good fortune and bless the home.
Some 11 hours earlier at the same hospital, teacher Teh Soo Bin, 30, delivered a 2.95kg baby boy at 1.24am.
Teh and her husband Khor Eng Kim, 32, an IT engineer, were surprised as their firstborn was supposed to be due on Nov 9 but he “waited” to be born on this special day.
“Our precious bundle of joy will be named Isaac Khor, and all we want is for the baby to grow up healthy,” said Teh.
