Psychedelic swirl: Melbourne-based Slowjaxx (aka Esam Salleh) returns to the KL scene for a one-off gig at Sticky Fingers @ Bangkok Bistro in Pavilion KL tonight.
IT all started 10 years ago when Laguna Music founders — brothers Jeremy and Jeffrey Little — decided to build a studio from scratch to record their band Prana’s second album. The recording facility — Greenhouse Studio — tucked in a quiet suburb in Ampang, Selangor has gone from strength to strength while the Laguna label and distribution arm has established itself as a sizeable player in the local scene. Tomorrow sees the 10th anniversary celebration of the Laguna imprint with pioneering bands like Prana, Sevencollar T-shirt and Pure Vibracion sharing the stage with new signings like Guba, Halfway Kings and Lab The Rat. The label’s extended family will also be joining the festivities, especially acts like Damn Dirty Apes, Pesawat, Subculture and Love Me Butch, which have been no strangers to early morning recording sessions at the Greenhouse Studio.
