ALOR SETAR: The Kedah DAP is still waiting for the state PKR to approach them to discuss seat allocation for the next general election, said Kedah DAP chairman Lee Guan Aik.
“So far PKR has not responded to us, but we expect them to open the door and let us in for discussion,” he said.
Lee, however, said he did not need to write a formal letter to Kedah PKR chairman Datuk Wan Salleh Wan Isa to arrange a session to discuss the matter.
“I had expressed my hope about the seat allocation previously in the newspapers, and even the central leaders have heard me,” he said yesterday.
Lee said the Kedah DAP wanted to contest two parliamentary seats and six state seats in the elections.
“I don’t think PKR refused to discuss, I believe they are just trying to leave it to the central committee to decide. Now, I leave it to the party’s central committee, and will wait for their final decision,” he said.
There are a total of 36 state seats and 15 parliamentary seats in Kedah.
In 2008, DAP contested only two state seats.
Lee, who is also Kota Darul Aman assemblyman, was speaking to the press after visiting storm victims in Seberang Nyonya here. He said the Kedah Mentri Besar approved a sum of RM4,600 to help the victims.
He said RM3,000 was for a badly damaged house which had its roof blown away during the incident, while eight affected houses received RM200.
A freak storm had damaged about 10 houses on Thursday afternoon.
