Preserving heritage: Boon giving a briefing on the rebuilding design of the new shophouses in Gambier Street.
KUCHING: Four out of six century-old shophouses along Gambier Street that were razed to the ground in a fire in 2009 will be rebuilt at a cost of RM3.45mil.
Construction work started in July and the shops would be completed by September next year, said conservation architect and deputy chairman of Malaysian Institute of Architects Sarawak Chapter Mike Boon.
