A GROUP of teenagers are shocked when a snooker centre that they patronised in Jalan Young, Pandamaran Jaya, was raided in an operation conducted by the Klang Municipal Council (MPK).
MPK Enforcement deputy director Shahrul Hazri Abdul Majid said the premises did not have an operating licence and also housed a cybercafe.
It had become a hotspot for teenagers.
Shahrul Hazri added that MPK confiscated three snooker tables and a pool table under Section 6 of the Selangor Entertainment and Places of Entertainment Enactment 1995.
“The operation was conducted following public tip-off.
“We are concerned over the adverse effect of such places to the younger generation especially those who are still in school.
“In fact, this premises has been raided several times and its equipment seized,” he said.
Shahrul Hazri said the owners were running an illegal cyber cafe which was in violation of the Cyber Centre and Cafe (MPK) 2007 By-law.
He added that MPK would continue to intensify such operations at other locations.
