Hioki residents visit Malaysia as council’s friendship city partner

Entertaining the guests: Mohd Azri Basri from the Kumpulan Anak-Anak Seni Sri Aman showing the Japanese guests how to perform the Kuda Kepang dance.

WHEN Seiko Shimozono, 50, started hosting Malaysian students in her house in Hioki city, Japan, about 20 years ago, she was very impressed with the Malaysian culture and lifestyle.

“The Muslim students who came did not eat pork and they prayed five times a day. I find that very beautiful,” said Shimozono through interpreter Wan Ahmad Nazaruddin Wan Azizan, who is also the Hioki City Hall international relations coordinator.
