FOR Arom Asir, his involvement in celebrating the national-level International Day for The World’s Indigenous Peoples, was a step closer to recognising his own identity as one of the country’s indigenous community.
Pak Arom, a Temiar who hails from Kampung Pahong in Gua Musang, Kelantan, shared his jubilation with 20 of his fellow kinsmen as well as over 200 other indigenous people of Sabah and Sarawak, despite the event’s venue and organisation that did not reflect the posh and pageantry usually associated with a national celebration.
