IT WILL be a golden opportunity for Macy Home Furnishing customers who shopped at its outlets between July 20 and Aug 1 if Malaysia’s shuttlers manage to win the gold medal at the 2012 London Olympics.
Macy’s celebrity customer Jojo Struys said the retail chain was offering a full refund to 50% of customers who had spent RM2,000 or more during the stated period, at any of its stores if the Malaysian team wins the gold.
“To make the process of choosing the 50% of customers as transparent as possible, they will be selected based on their sales order number made during the promotion period, whether the last digit was odd or even,” said Struys.
“Should Malaysia strike gold, the final match score would be added up to see if it was odd or even.
“Some other celebrities and I have been creating awareness about this on Twitter and other media. It is just a way of getting support for our badminton team in London.”
“We have a chance this year and it would be great to see at least the badminton team returning with a gold medal from this Olympics,” Struys said.
Besides home furnishing customers, all Malaysians will also get a free scoop of ice cream at all 61 Baskin-Robbins outlets nationwide under Media Prima Bhd’s “Impian Emas Negara” initiative, should Malaysia win a gold medal this Olympics.
The free giveaway will be available on Aug 8 at all Baskin-Robbins outlets (excluding the two kiosks at Pantai Hospital, Bangsar and Genting Theme Park) from 8pm till 10pm.
Cheah See Yeong, president of Golden Scoop Sdn Bhd, Baskin-Robbins’ Malaysian partner, said early birds would not only get a free scoop of ice cream but also vouchers for other Baskin-Robbins deals.
“It will be one of our largest giveaways to-date as it involves nearly all Baskin-Robbins restaurants nationwide,” he said.
