Firms donate savings from plastic bags to charities

SHOPPERS in Selangor have managed to save some five million plastic bags in the first year of the “No Plastic Bag” campaign which was launched in 2010, said its state executive councillor Elizabeth Wong.

She said about a hundred businesses ranging from shopping centres, franchised outlets, grocery stores as well as restaurants have lent support to the state’s move to reduce the use of plastic bags.
