OLYMPIAN sailor Khairul Nizam Mohd Afendy, 19, received timely aid from the Kedah state government to help him financially during his long stay in London preparing for the 2012 London Olympics.
Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azizan Abdul Razak, who presented the cheque to Khairul’s father, Mohd Afendy Abdullah, said it was the government’s token contribution under the sport incentive scheme to Khairul, who is the only Kedahan among 29 athletes from Malaysia who had qualified for the Olympic Games.
