Sunway Bhd’s property arm was recognised as one of Malaysia’s top 10 property developers for the second consecutive year at the recent BCI Asia Awards 2012 — Malaysia.
The BCI Asia Top 10 awards recognises 10 property developers and architecture firms that had the greatest impact on the built environment in the region.
Since its inception in 2005, the Top 10 awards is among the most coveted awards for the Asian building and design industry.
The BCI Asia Top 10 Developers awards was launched in 2011 to recognise the work of top developers in Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
Based on the greatest volume of buildings over an annual qualification period, the selection for the award recipients is made through BCI Asia Research Consultant’s aggregation of more than a quarter of a million interviews with architects, developers, consultants and contractors reporting on significant building projects in Asia Pacific.
“The BCI Asia Awards is recognition for Sunway as it reinforces our position as an outstanding property developer and gives us the opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to deliver only the best for our customers,” said Sunway Group property development division managing director Ho Hon Sang.
Ho explained that besides being a property developer that aims to build a better life for the community to live, work, play, heal and learn in, Sunway is also committed to fulfilling the five principles of Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability (Lohas) when conceptualising every project.
The term Lohas refers to a market sector that desires goods and services that are focused on the five pillars of health and fitness, environment, personal development, sustainable living and social justice.
Lohas is not limited to only environmental issues, but also promotes a balanced, healthy and sustainable lifestyle.
Sunway is a pioneer in delivering integrated townships and developments in Malaysia.
The thriving townships under its umbrella — Sunway Integrated Resort City and Sunway South Quay located in Bandar Sunway, Selangor and Sunway City Ipoh in Tambun, Perak respectively are testaments to its success.
Sunway is also one of the developers in the Iskandar Malaysia mega development in Johor. With 691 acres (279.64 ha) of prime land in a joint venture with Khazanah Nasional, Sunway Iskandar is a sustainable integrated project with an estimated gross development value of RM12bil.
The company’s upcoming launches include integrated mixed-development Sunway Velocity’s designer office connected to an over one million sq ft lifestyle shopping mall in Cheras, Sunway Geo commercial precinct in Sunway South Quay and further extensions of Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall.
