USM team bags two awards in India for bacteria study


A TEAM of researchers from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) has discovered that a milk derivative from a type of probiotics known as Lactic Acid Bacteria (LAB) is able to overcome a host of problems in the human body.

Lecturer Dr Liong Min-Tze from USM’s School of Industrial Technology led four postgraduate students to bag two awards at the International Conference on Recent Trends in Molecular Medicine in Kerala, India, in February this year for the research and development of LAB.
