Integrated electric power technology provider Pestech Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Pestech International Bhd (Pestech) has been presented the “Most Competitive Employer” in the Small and Medium Enterprise category by the Human Resources Ministry in conjunction with the Labour Day celebration recently.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak presented the award to Pestech International chief executive officer Paul Lim at an award ceremony.
“Pestech is led by qualified senior management team who are dedicated to the welfare of the staff, many of whom are longstanding employees. This award is a testament of our commitment to our employees without whom, we will not be where we are today,” said Lim.
Pestech which is en route to a listing on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia, does system design, engineering and infrastructure in the power transmission and distribution industry.
Among its customers are Tenaga Nasional Bhd, Sabah Electric Sdn Bhd, Sarawak Energy Berhad, Cambodia Transmission Ltd, Ceylon Electricity Board, Department of Electrical Services of Brunei and PNG Power Ltd.
To-date, Pestech has a strong team of 149 employees of which 99.3% are Malaysians.
Close to 56% of its employees have been with the company for at least three years.

Pestech also encourages staff to balance work and life with exercise and nature appreciation. Located within the company compound are basketball and badminton courts, a cafe-like staff cafeteria and an indoor koi pond.
Pestech International is also committed to various corporate social responsibilities aimed at enhancing the community.
The company recently made a charitable contribution to a Hospis Malaysia fundraising activity by being the main sponsor for the second year in a row for the organisation’s 11th Charity Treasure Hunt.
Other activities include contributing to the Malaysian Association of the Blind, National Cancer Society of Malaysia and organising a movie outing for orphanages from Asrama Damai Kuang.
The Labour Day celebration was held to recognise and appreciate the contribution of workers in developing the country while fostering a spirit of cooperation and collaboration between the three main pillars in national development which are the government, employers and employees.
The theme for this year’s annual celebration was “Innovative Workers: The Movers of Transformation”.
