SYARIKAT Bekalan Air Selangor (Syabas) recorded some 3,241 complaints on water distruption and 250 complaints on low water pressure in the Petaling and Klang districts as of noon yesterday.
The areas involved were Bukit Jalil, Sri Petaling, Kuchai Lama, Jalan Klang Lama, Salak Selatan, Bukit Raja, Sementa, Port Klang and Kapar.
Syabas executive director Abdul Halem Mat Som said to deal with the water disruption, Syabas sent out 42 water tanks to the affected areas.
The two districts were among six districts that were affected by an unscheduled water distruption due to low production of treated water at the Sungai Selangor Phase 2 water treatment plant, owned by Puncak Niaga (M) Sdn Bhd.
The low production was caused by a faulty transformer at the plant.
However, most areas which were involved in the un-scheduled water distruption had already started receiving water supply yesterday.
These four other areas involved were in the Kuala Lumpur, Gombak, Kuala Selangor and Sabak Bernam districts.
Meanwhile, Syabas reported that treated water supply at the Sungai Selangor Phase water treatment plant was already at 90% stage, which was 870mil litre a day.
Last Saturday Syabas was also informed that temporary rectification works had been completed and water supply would be channelled to the main ponds.
Water supply in the affected areas was expected to resume by stages from then to Sunday night, the latest.
Abdul Halem said they would continue to conduct checks from time to time and keep the public informed of the status of the water distruption.
A resident from Happy Garden, Old Klang Road said there had been no water in his area for the past three days.
“Some areas have water supply and some do not.
“I have called the Puspel hotline and they said they are not sure when the water supply will be restored,” he said.
