Football legends to cook for charity

some of the world’s greatest football legends who will be taking part in this year’s EPL Masters Football Malaysia Cup 2012 will be cooking a charity lunch on April 24 in aid of Hope Worldwide Malaysia’s Football for Hope Programme.

The charity event will be hosted by Doubletree by Hilton which is the official hotel for the football legends for the second year.

The cooking will be done at the hotel’s signature Malaysian restaurant, Makan Kitchen where the football legends will be cooking alongside the restaurant’s speciality chefs.

The charity lunch is priced at RM80++ per person and limited to 100 fans.

DoubleTree by Hilton Kuala Lumpur general manager Ian Barrow said: “The charity lunch is a great way for us to extend our Care culture beyond the team and our guests into the community in which we operate. I hope it will receive great support as it is always good to engage children in healthy activities. This initiative will also help to promote the diverse Malaysian cuisine to the world as we introduce them to the football legends.”

Hope Worldwide Malaysia is a non-profit organisation with its goal to improve lifestyle of needy families through quality healthcare and education aide with the support of their network of volunteers.

The Football for Hope started in April 2010 with the aim of engaging children aged from six to 17 years from needy families in weekly football trainings and giving the talented ones an opportunity to realise their dream as a professional footballer one day.

Country director, Darick Wong conveyed his gratitude towards the charitable cause.

“It’s very encouraging to know we always have the support of organisations such as DoubleTree by Hilton Kuala Lumpur in helping with our children’s education programme. We really hope the public will give their support to this notable event.”

EPL Masters Football Malaysia Cup 2012 will be taking place at Malawati Stadium on April 22.

Footballers who have confirmed their participation are Liverpool Masters’ Robbie Fowler, Steve McManamam, Man United Masters’ Andy Cole, Viv Anderson, All Stars Masters’ Ian Walker and Michael Thomas, just to name a few.
