MIRI: Three persons who were nabbed in the state’s biggest ganja seizure in February were produced before Magistrate Gerald Empaling Donald here.
Deputy public prosecutor Shahidah Muslimah Roslan applied to fix another date for mention of the trio’s case, saying she was waiting for the police investigation report and consent from the Senior Federal Counsel whether to proceed with the case.
The court proceeded to fix May 8, at 9am, for the second mention of the case involving Baddeley Tie Yew Sion, 22, Kenny Gabriel Anthony, 26, and Shirley Yong Lu Ting, 27.
The three were charged under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act which carries the mandatory death penalty.
The trio were arrested on Feb 23 following police stakeout at a house at Krokop here.
In the ensuing raid, the police team led by ASP Fikri Sairin confiscated ganja weighing 5.13kg; cooked opium, 30g; Erimin 5, 500 pills weighing about 144g; Ecstacy pills, 240 tablets; 71 Ecstacy capsules weighing 92.6g; Ecstacy powder weighing about 5.8g; and syabu weighing about 62g.
The total estimated market value of the drugs seized was RM77,000.
Miri OCPD ACP Mun Kock Keong in a press conference held on Feb 26 also confirmed that the initial urine tests conducted on the three accused were positive for the drug methamphetamine.
