HFMD cases show nearly 50% drop yesterday, says Health Department


KUCHING: The number of new hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) cases has decreased sharply from Saturday’s 70 to 39 cases yesterday. The drop was observed in Kuching, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Mukah, Sibu, Kapit and Bintulu divisions. For Miri and Limbang, the number of new cases remained the same as the day before.

In a daily update issued from the state’s Health Department, number of new cases reported as of Saturday was 39. Divisions with the highest number of new cases are Kuching with 14, Betong (five), Bintulu, Miri and Limbang (four each), Samarahan (three), Kapit and Sibu (two each), and Mukah (one). Sarikei and Sri Aman reported no new case.
