Radio stations abuzz as Najib makes his rounds

It was an upbeat morning at the Tropicana City Office Tower in Petaling Jaya when Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak arrived for his interview with The Star’s 988 FM.

Najib was accompanied by MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek.

Given a red carpet welcome, Najib, who arrived at 8.35am, was greeted by Star Publications (M) Bhd executive deputy chairman Datuk Vincent Lee and group managing director Ho Kay Tat.

Employees of the Star Radio Group network of radio stations also came to greet him, with some holding placards in support of the Prime Minister.

One of the placards read: “With deepest gratitude, thank you YAB Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Abdul Razak, Perdana Menteri Malaysia, for honouring 988 with your presence.”

Najib was then led to the radio studio where he was interviewed by 988 FM DJs Sam Mak, Tan Yi Hui, May and Kean during the station’s morning show segment called 988 Street VIP.

The one-hour interview, which began at 9am, saw Najib, who is also Finance Minister, candidly answering questions from the DJs and callers. By the end of the hour, he was asked how he felt about the interview, to which he replied: “This interview didn’t feel that long. Thank you for having me.”
