GLOBAL nutrition company Herbalife, announced the launch of Calcium Plus, a supplement to help build strong bones and teeth.
Calcium Plus contains vitamin D and magnesium, which are said to assist calcium absorption and utilisation.
With the addition of copper and zinc, this supplement is said to help enhance the absorption and digestion of calcium to maintain good health and also support healthy aging.
The product is recommended for those who do not take dairy products, such as vegans or those with lactose intolerance.
The new product was unveiled to over 5,000 independent distributors from Malaysia and Singapore at a three-day Spectacular 2012 event held in Sri Kembangan.
Launching the new product launch were Herbalife’s regional executives, Herbalife distributor leaders, national squash player Low Wee Wern and national swimmer Khoo Cai Lin.
Commenting on the launch of the product, Herbalife Malaysia general manager K.R. Sridhar said, “People these days fail to know the importance of calcium. It is important because as they age, absorption of calcium in the body decreases and this can lead to many different types of serious health problems.”
He added that calcium deficiency could lead to arthritis, osteoporosis and other related health problems.
“I would recommend this product for people who are active in sports. It is essential to build a strong body especially at a younger age” said Low Wee Wern, Malaysia’s second-ranked squash player behind Datuk Nicol David.
Khoo Cai Lin, who currently holds the 400m and 800m freestyle national record and a London Olympic hopeful said, “Most people do not understand the implications of not having enough calcium in their body. As an athlete it is important to have strong bones and all of us should take calcium supplement.”
