IN view of the growing popularity of smart-phones and tablet computers, Penang Development Corporation (PDC) Telecommunication Services Sdn Bhd is encouraging telecommunication (telco) operators to install fibre optics cables to cope with the higher bandwidth demand.
Its chairman Jeff Ooi said that PDC is also facilitating telco companies to gradually remove their rooftop microwave dishes before phasing them out altogether in the next five years.
