KUCHING: The state Islamic Affairs Department (Jais) and the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry will soon carry out surprise checks on eateries that have halal logos.
Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Office (Islamic Affairs) Datuk Daud Abdul Rahman said the inspection was to monitor the reponse to the ruling that only halal logos issued by the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) can be used.
