CLAD in traditional Malay, Baba and Nyonya garments, 21 newlyweds from Guangzhou, China, turned the many Penang heritage sites and natural landscapes into their photo-shoot sites.
Despite the hot weather, the couples were seen enjoying the photoshoot at several interesting places including the Pinang Peranakan Mansion and the breathtaking views at Batu Ferringhi.
The presence of the honeymooners certainly turned heads. Shutterbugs including locals and foreign tourists were busy snapping pictures as the group rode on trishaws around the City Hall in Esplanade.
Newlyweds Edward Han, 29, and Susan Guo, 25, were visiting the country for the second time.
“We had our first overseas trip together to Kuala Lumpur in 2009 for the new year countdown and it was amazing. Malaysia is really a romantic place,” said Han.
He said they had been courting for about four years and coming to Penang certainly made their dreams come true.
He said: “This place is so beautiful and it’s just ideal for our honeymoon vacation.’’
Yu Yang, 31, and Gao Ping Ping, 30, donned traditional Malay wedding costumes.
“Before this, I don’t know much about the Malay culture. Now, I find it indeed interesting,” said Gao.
