Efforts to register eligible Sarawakians for RM500 aid uncover thousands without MyKad

MIRI: Community leaders, politicians and the district office authorities, who are racing against time to secure the RM500 1Malaysia People’s Welfare aid (BR1M) for those earning below RM3,000, have encountered a major setback — stateless applicants.

Their efforts came to a halt when they discovered thousands of fellow Sarawakians, whom they want to assist were either without birth certificate or MyKad or both.
