Nospan-consuming youths in police lockup

KUCHING: Two youths are now languishing in lockup after failing in their attempt to evade the police on Sunday.

According to a police spokesman, a patrol team on Ops Lejang in Tabuan Jaya came across the two 19-year-olds at the traffic light near Jalan Wan Alwi at 7.50pm.

The patrol team had wanted to flag them down because of their suspicious manner but as the patrol car approached, the duo sped off.

The team, however, was ready for the move and before long their escape route was cut off.

The two youths who appeared intoxicated were brought to Simpang Tiga Police Station.

One of them later told investigators that they had consumed Nospan (a medicine used to treat a cough).

A urine test was conducted on the two youths, after which they were sent to the lockup.
