Book celebrates history of grand Peranakan building

IN celebration of the Peranakan’s culture in Penang, a book depicting the history of one of the grandest buildings in Penang, the Pinang Peranakan Mansion, was launched to promote and preserve its heritage.

The book entitled ‘The Pinang Peranakan Mansion: A Museum of Straits Chinese Cultural Heritage’ is a compendium that traces the history of the two men behind the mansion — the original owner Kapitan Cina Chung Keng Kwee and the current owner Peter Soon.
