Police and Sarawak Energy Bhd launch largest ever investigation to catch culprits

KUCHING: The police and Sarawak Energy Bhd (SEB), the state-owned utility company, have begun their largest investigation into electricity theft ever, with more 250 cases already underway.

The police have booked at least one industrialist in court, and SEB is expecting many more suspects to be charged in the coming months. The company says of 521,000 customers, about 14% of all meters are tampered.
