RESIDENTS in Kampung Rapat should put up signs bearing the local police hotline number to ensure swift action in the event of a crime.
Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Azisman Alias said that if the number was highly visible, residents would not have to scramble to look for the correct number to call the police when they encountered or witnessed a crime.
“Residents can put up the signs however they like, just as long as the number of the police hotline, which is 05-254 2222, is easily seen.
“They can even make copies of it and stick them on the walls of shophouses or hang them up in their homes,” he said.
ACP Azisman, who had earlier met with local community leaders during the Convoy Community Policing programme in Gunung Rapat on Tuesday, said the public should always inform the police if they came across anything or anyone suspicious.
“We will send out our patrol vehicles within five to seven minutes upon receiving the information,” he said.
ACP Azisman stressed that the crime rate in Kampung Rapat was under control.
“There has been a 20% reduction in crime cases reported in the first nine months of the year, compared to the corresponding period last year,” he added.
