KUCHING: The late Tun Jugah Barieng, a signatory representing Sarawak in forming Malaysia, will always go down as a hero who fought for the unity and rights of bumiputras in the state.
Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud said it was Jugah who persuaded the bumiputras in the state in agreeing to form Malaysia with Malaya, Sabah and Singapore in 1963, and worked towards uniting the people and brought them to mainstream development.
