Dressed in a white blouse and slacks, C.P. Lau is one of the 303 women spending nine days at the Tow Boo Keong Temple in order to observe all the rites of the Nine Emperor Gods festival this year.
The vast air-conditioned hall on one side of the temple has been converted into sleeping bunks for the women to stay for the duration of the celebration.
