Application for judicial review on khalwat case thrown out

GEORGE TOWN: The Syariah High Court has dismissed an application by the Youth and Sports Ministry deputy secretary-general Datuk Salim Parlan and a woman, charged with committing khalwat (close proximity), for a judicial review of the lower court’s decision to proceed with the hearing of the case.

Judge Mohammed Zamri Roslan made the ruling after Salim and Nur Diayana Norslan’s counsel Datuk Zainul Rijal Abu Bakar informed the court that he had filed an application on Sept 9 for the High Court to discontinue hearing the judicial review application.
