THE issuance of the new series of Malaysian coins next year has prompted the Penang Municipal Council (MPPP) to speed up its implementation of the coupon parking system by year-end.
The council’s Infrastructure and Transport Committee member Teh Lai Heng said the new coins might not be recognised by the current parking meters, and it was crucial to launch the coupon system to avoid unnecessary inconvenience.
