Crowds throng restaurants and eateries during recent Hungry Ghost Festival

GONE are the days when people used to be afraid of venturing out of their houses during the Hungry Ghost Festival.

The younger generation, especially, do not seem too bothered that the Gates of the Netherworld are opened to allow hungry spirits to roam the human realm to forage for food during the entire seventh month of the lunar calendar.
