BARISAN Nasional will endeavour to recapture Penang in the next general election.
Pulau Betong assemblyman Muhammad Farid Saad said the spirit to keep on fighting did not weaken despite the slim success in the last general election in 2008.
“It has also not prevented me from continuing to serve the community. We have to be confident.
“We have also been going to the ground for a year and we will do it more frequently every month,” he told reporters after presenting cash and food items to needy folk in Balik Pulau recently.
He gave out RM50 cash and food items worth RM95 each to the 220 needy people from the Pulau Betong constituency in conjunction with Ramadan.
He added that the wholly-owned government agency 1Malaysia Development Berhad had provided an allocation of RM500,000 to repair dilapidated houses in the Balik Pulau parliamentary constituency.
“We will identify the houses which need repairs such as those with leaky roofs or those without water supply,” he said, adding that the repairs would be implemented soon.
Muhammad Farid also announced that there would be open house events at SMK Pondok Upeh on the first day of Hari Raya Puasa from 11am to 3pm and at Dataran Tok Sudin on Sept 18 from 2pm to 6pm.
