Nestle proud to be associated with Penang Starwalk


NESTLE Products Sdn Bhd has come forward as the main sponsor for Penang Starwalk 2011 in sponsoring RM40,000 worth of prizes comprising free flow of Milo on the race day for all participants.

The company will also be sponsoring 2,500 T-shirts and RM5,000 in cash.

“Walking is the cheapest form of health activity. Partaking in sporting events is something we have done for a long time and I would like to thank The Star for extending the invitation to us. We are proud to participate in this yearly event,” said Nestle Products Sdn Bhd sports marketing manager Ng Ping Loong.

Milo was introduced to Malaysia in 1950 and since then Nestle has been using sports as a platform to reach out to the people. “We have always been instrumental in promoting the value of sports especially to children to inculcate a healthy lifestyle from a young age. It is our goal to build champions in sports and encourage people to be champions in their own lives. As for Penang Starwalk, we have been a part of it since day one and seen it grow from strength to strength. We are very honoured to be part of this event again,” said Ng.

To be held on Sept 18, Penang Starwalk 2011 is jointly organised by The Star and the Penang Amateur Athletic Association. It will be flagged off from Penang Times Square at 6.30am for competition walkers and 7.15am for non-competition walkers. The new route passes heritage sites such as Fort Cornwallis, the City Hall, St George’s Church, Goddess of Mercy Temple, Kapitan Keling Mosque and the Sri Mariamman Temple.

The route for non-competition walkers is 6km long while it is 10km for competition walkers.

Registration fee is RM10 for non-competition walkers.

The public can sign up from 9.15am to 5pm on weekdays at the Star Northern Hub in Bayan Lepas or the newspaper’s George Town office at 15, Jalan Masjid Kapitan Keling, or at the Penang Times Square’s information counter at its ground floor from 10am to 10pm daily.

The closing date for registration is Sept 1 for the non-competition category or when the 20,000 mark is reached, whichever is sooner.
