HERITAGE enthusiasts have a chance to join a fun walk in George Town on July 24, organised by the Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) Penang Branch and Kwong Wah Yit Poh.
Event organising chairman Loh Nam Hooi encouraged the public to join the annual MRC Heritage Walk, which is to be flagged off in front of the Town Hall at the Esplanade at 8am.
“The 4km walk will cover some of the town’s heritage sites such as the Yeah Kongsi, Poh Hock Seah Temple, Khoo Kongsi Temple, Masjid Kapitan Keling, St George’s Church and the Sri Mahamariamman Temple.
“We expect to raise RM150,000 for MRC Penang Branch to fund its various humanitarian projects,” he said.
Loh said the walk would be held in conjunction with the third anniversary of George Town being a Unesco World Heritage Site.
Registration forms have to be submitted by Friday, along with the registration fee of RM30. Forms are available at the MRC Penang Branch at 26, Grove Road, and at the MRC Seberang Perai Utara Chapter at 2, Jalan St Mark, Butterworth.
