PERAK, like all states nationwide, will have to adhere to the Jan 1, 2012, deadline to have all childcare centres registered — presently, only 60% of the 261 nurseries in Perak are operating legally.
State Welfare Department director Chong Phaik Kee said Perak was embarking on a registration exercise for all nurseries, adding that having the nurseries signed up meant that the department would be able to monitor them better.
